He liked it, so he put a ring on it.

Do you have a story that you love to tell so much, that you look for any reason to tell it? And all your friends roll their eyes, as in to say..."here she goes again." I have many.  Most are about how cool my husband is, I just want everyone to know. One of my favorite "our stories" is when he proposed because it was just so perfect and adorbs. He gets me. Here's some background story for you. I love reading, I love the feel and smell of books (like for real I tried to convince Kody to have our reception at the Springville Library), and I collect children's books, I love to discover new ones, and it's one of my favorite gifts to get...just if you need ideas. I have a few go-to's when I'm stressed or just needing to feel free, one is running, one is chocolate (obvi), one is painting my nails, and the other is going to Barnes's and Noble to read children's books, and as I'm typing this I can see how that sounds creepy. I will hunker down for hours in a corner reading piles and piles of stories and then I will buy my favorite one from that day. I took Kody on a few of these adventures as a couple of our dates, we would pick out books and then read them to each other.  I cherish that tradition and I'm looking forward to the day that I get to read all of the books to our children. So jump to September 2015. We had been talking about getting married for a while, and I knew he had talked to my dad, a couple weeks had passed, and I still had a bare naked ring finger. WTH??? Maybe he was just trying to catch me off guard? Maybe he changed his mind? We had gone to look at apartments so I figured he was still in but the waiting game be like....ahhhh. One day at the end of September he said something along the lines of "hey we should go to B&N and read books." I didn't think anything of it. Then Friday of that same week said "we should do something Monday. We haven't read children's books for a while, let's do that for FHE on Monday." On Saturday morning while we were driving back to Provo from my sisters house in Brigham City, he asked "do you want to go to B&N with me tonight?" Now at this point, I could see that he was pretty adamant about going to B&N, and that caused a few red flags but I wasn't going to get my hopes up, buuut then when he dropped me off he said "you might want to make sure your nails are painted" - when we had talked about the proposal previously I told him he better do it when my finger nails were painted, ugh the horror if they were ugly for the obligatory "OMG look what he put on my finger" pic. That's when I knew, and I ran upstairs to freak out with my roommate. But like, I totally kept my cool when he picked me up. He however, was shaking.  Once we got there, we separated so we could each pick out a few books, I grabbed a few and headed back to my little seat, and he soon joined me. He allowed me to read mine first, and after I got done he said he had found the perfect book that he wanted to read to me. It was titled "The Epic Adventure" the author? Himself. As he started to read my heart started going really fast and over the next few pages I fell more in love with him. He wrote a book all about our adventures while dating, the good times, the rough patches, the first kiss, our first date, it was all in there. For the characters he used our favorite animals and colors, a grey shark to represent him, a yellow elephant to represent me, and finally on the last page there was a picture of the same shark and elephant, but the elephant had new accessory, a ring on it's trunk. Kody closed the book, dropped down on one knee, pulled out a box, opened said box and asked me to be his wife. I responded with a squeaky "of course!" Might I add my responses had become a little more eloquent since he first asked me out. Although I think I should have responded with "totes my goats.." just to keep it consistent. The ring was gorgeous, and looked perfect on my freshly painted finger nails. Honestly it's hard to describe how happy I was in that moment, and how happy he has made me since that time. I can't wait for all of our epic adventures in the years to come, and write story after story. Below is a link to   a super embarrassing video of me reading the story, please excuse my awkward reading voice, and my filthy nails....

I know you enjoyed that.

Sincerely,
